I have been drawn to big builds when it comes to earrings these days. Complicated. Swinging. A LOT, but not. Earrings are some of the more difficult pieces to make, in my humble opinion, because it requires a match. These babes are mirrors of each other, but their own as well. Inspired by the springtime blooms and buds outside the studio!
Rare Morgan Hill California Poppy Jasper mirrored pairs, cut by the man himself, Merlin Deshaw of @windywayrockshop, longtime friend and lapidary guru. I've paired these GORGEOUS hunks of stone with Sonoran Turquoise rectangles, and teeny little 4mm Bluebird Turquoise from Kingman, AZ. These are mixed metal earrings, with 14k Gold Fill bezel settings on the teeny turquoise, and Gold-fill oop attachments between components.
Earrings are BIG. Measure 2 3/4" long and 1" at her widest. On post earrings for comfort. These are not light earrings, but I have tried my best to keep them as light as possible without sacrificing craftsmanship. Backplates are pierced out (to drop some weight!) and to expose the gorgeous stone back. My signature coin is also on the back.
