Indian Paintbrush, or 'Prairie Fire' is actually a large 'Castilleja' family of flowers, with over 200 species found around the world.  If you see one in Montana, it usually means we've had plenty of rain and sun in the early parts of summer, as it's one of the first red flowers out, and is such a treat to find on the trails. It's also one of my favorites.  Her furry crazy face and wild oranges/yellows/reds are always such a blast of color in a mountain landscape.

Sonora Sunrise is a Chrysocolla Cuprite stone, copper oxide is the red. It is found exclusively in Mexico, and is a stunning rare stone. I snagged a few pieces cut by my main man Merlin down in Livingston this last winter, and knew they had to be Indian paintbrush pendants!

OOAK for Summer 2023. Hangs on a reverse-rope style chain at 18".  Entire piece measures about 2" long from bail to bottom, and 1" across. This pendant is the far right and is a beautiful red on top with white matrix on bottom, a sorta 'droplet' shape.
