It's been a strange winter, full of rain and 40 degrees and sometimes the sun shines, but not usually. There's a way-too-soon creek running under the mushy snow behind our house. I glance out the doorframe to a once-snowy landscape turned brown, and slop my way outside to the studio. I think to myself, Oh February! Get it together!
Within a few steps outside, my ears adjust, and I am met with the most surprising WALL of birdsong, an absolute BLASTING of tweeeeps and treillls and cwaaaaaaah and gaaarrrhuuuulleeeeep as I step out the door! Wrens! Jays! Flickers! Magpies! Chickadees! An absolute TEENAGE GYMNASIUM of birds come roaring and twittering out the branches of the tree above me, and It is SO LOUD it literally stopped me in my boots!
It might be shit winter weather. But the birds thinks it's party time, so I took a play from them and built this necklace to remind me that singing is fun, and birds are the very first voices of what's to come!
....
February Birdsong, a necklace! This is a SOLID STERLING pendant from sand-casting play years ago that's sat on my bench for literal years, and has officially found her place in the R&S lineup in Feb 2026! I couldn't be happier! Matte Lapis Lazuli beads are strung with Quartz, Coral, Turquoise, and lots of Antique African trade beads. Necklace measures 22-24" long, with adjustable extender chain. Sterling Silver entirely, including pendant, handmade charms, accent seed beads, and clasp. My signature is on the back of the birdie. Bird Pendant measure nearly a half ounce of Sterling Silver and just over 1" diameter.
