A friend told me recently that her Grandmother always said “You can’t have a bad day in Orange.” And I think she’s right. She reminisced about bad orange turtlenecks over the holidays and big old-lady dresses in absurd fashion for the beach. And truth be told. Orange is my favorite color, I wear it often. I am drawn to Orange over Turquoise any day of the week. I like yellow watermelon over pink, sunsets over sunrise, and am partial to my orange-y Zinnias over the others, but don’t tell them that. I am drawn to the ochres and rusts of the desert, and usually always buy stones and set stones accordingly.
It’s easy to get lost and sad in these days of September, in these atrocious headlines, gun violence in your pocket, settling out of summer into something less free, or simply just….being a human being these days.
I’d like to believe. Orange helps.
