Wild ICE! For the latter half of January, our town's big lake froze over in a way not many had ever seen before. It was crystal clear, straight to the bottom, and froze like glass. It was breathtaking. This is a series of simple pendants in Gem Silica, in honor of that spectacular experience.
I've cut out the backplates of these semi-transparent stones to let the light through, and to mimic the feel of ice skating, or peering through feet of frozen ice in search of the bottom. Or fish. Or an old sunken canoe. All of which are easy excuses when you are terrible at ice skating.
THIS PARTICULAR PIECE: A sweet lil' oval that reminds me of a fat jellybean! She's a nice chunk of Gem Silica, with a window cut from her backplate. Necklace is hung on a 20" reverse rope chain with two jump rings as bail. Entire piece has dark patina with a brushed matte finish and my signature coin. Measures 1" from double bail top to bottom of pendant, 5/8" at her fattest.
